Definition of coil angle, wind, traverse ratio, cone-tapper angle, crossing angle

DEFINITION

(For cross-wound package)

Cone-tapper angle or semi-vertical angle

  • The angle between the side of the cone and its axis.
  • Cone tapper generally range between  (Cylindrical pkg) and  for other.

Wind (single Traverse)

The number of coil laid on package in single traverse. A to C is one wind

Traverse Ratio

The number of coil laid on the package during double traverse of the same wing point. Yarn laying from A to C is complete one single traverse but from C to E complete a double traverse that is known as traverse ratio.

Coil Angle

To angle between directions of yarn laid on the package and plane perpendicular to axis. This angle is known as coil angle.

Crossing Angle

The angle at which yarn coil cross each other. Crossing angle is twice of coli angle.
Approaches of building a cross wound package
  • Build with constant traverse ratio
  • Build with constant coil angle
