Advantage and disadvantage of tappet shedding

Advantage:

• It is robust, simple & cheap
• it is capable of lifting a heavy weight with less wear & tear shedding mechanism.
• it cam move heald shaft at gear speed
• it put less strain upon the warp
• it consumes less power and give a greater output
• it remain less maintenance
• the mechanism does not cause design fault in woven fabric

Disadvantage:

• if the weave is changed, it will be necessary to change the tappet & change gear when in the counter shaft arrangement
• the capacity of tappet to produce a patter/weave is very munch limited 
• a maximum of 8 to 10 tappet only can be used
