Types of Viscose Yarn

Viscose yarn is a type of regenerated cellulose fiber made from wood pulp or other plant materials. It is a popular choice for making soft and breathable fabrics with lustrous and strong yarn. There are two types of viscose yarn, Viscose Staple Yarn (VSY) and Viscose Filament Yarn (VFY).

Viscose Staple Yarn (VSY)

The yarn listed below belongs to the category of viscose staple yarn.

Regular Viscose

This is the most common type of viscose yarn, also known as "Rayon." It is made from a combination of cellulose and caustic soda and then spun into yarn.

High Wet Modulus Viscose

This type of viscose yarn is made by treating cellulose with a higher concentration of caustic soda, resulting in a stronger and more durable fiber.

Modal Viscose

This type of viscose yarn is made from beech tree pulp and is known for its softness and moisture-wicking properties.

Lyocell Viscose

This is a newer type of viscose yarn, also known as "Tencel & Excel," made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus wood pulp. It is known for its strength, durability, and environmentally friendly production process.

Bamboo Viscose

This type of viscose yarn is made from bamboo pulp and is known for its softness and moisture-wicking properties. However, its production process can be environmentally damaging if not properly managed.

Viscose Fillament Yarn (VFY)

Viscose filament yarn (VFY) is a type of regenerated cellulose fiber made from wood pulp or other plant materials. There are several types of viscose filament yarn, including:

Bright VFY

This is the most common type of VFY, also known as "regular viscose filament yarn." It has a bright, shiny appearance and is used for making textiles with a silky sheen.

Semi-dull VFY

This type of VFY has a slightly muted shine and is used for making textiles with a more natural look and feel.

Full-dull VFY

This type of VFY has no shine and is used for making textiles with a matte finish.

High Wet Modulus (HWM) VFY

This type of VFY is made using a modified manufacturing process that results in a stronger and more durable fiber.

Micro-denier VFY

This type of VFY is made using a finer filament size, resulting in a softer and more luxurious fabric.

Colored VFY

This type of VFY is dyed in various colors and is used for making colorful textiles and garments.

Textured VFY

This type of VFY is mechanically crimped or textured to give it a more natural, wool-like appearance.

Overall, the type of VFY and VSY used depends on the desired properties of the final textile or garment, such as luster, strength, and texture.
