Passage of warp through a
plain power loom
Warp sheet from a weaver’s beam passes around a
back rest and is lead around lease rod to heald shaft 2 & heald shaft 1
which are responsible for separating the warp sheet into two layer to form
shed. The purpose of the back rest and lease rod is to separate the warp yarn
uniformly and precisely and reduce entanglement and tension in the yarn during
the opening of the shed. The warp yarn then pass through a reed, which hold the
yarn uniformly spacing and is also responsible for beating up the weft yarn to
the fell of the cloth. After the weft is beaten up the warp yarn interchange
position in the shed and there by cause interlacing to be achieved. At this point
cloth is formed and is held firmly by temple to assist in formation of
uniformly cloth.
The cloth then passes over a front rest, around an
emery roller or take up roller and guide roller and is finally wound on to a
cloth roller.
